Dawn Schell and Mary Ann Hayes
Dawn Schell
When Dawn was eight years old, her family moved next door to a minister and his family. The two families became friends; Dawn was invited to Sunday school and thus began her spiritual journey. That journey continues today through reading, writing, journaling, courses, retreats and close friendships. She lives with her husband, two cats and untold numbers of puppets. Her main focus is encouraging people to grow, develop and find their calling in life!
Dawn graduated from Simon Fraser University with her Masters in Counseling in 1987. Since that time she has worked with a number of not-for-profit societies as a counselor and has volunteered in a wide variety of church programs covering all ages and stages of life. Through workshops, messages, keynote addresses and retreats Dawn has been able to realize her interest in helping people to create their personal life visions. In addition, she engages in a variety of creative pursuits as a puppeteer, storyteller, and writer. Dawn is a highly skilled presenter and facilitator. She also brings a light-heartedness and sense of calm reality to her work that people immediately are drawn to no matter what the topic.
Dawn currently works as a counselor in private practice in Victoria, BC, Canada.

Mary Ann Hayes
As a fellow traveler Mary Ann has taken many roads to arrive at her present point on her spiritual journey. She has had mountain top experiences in the birth and raising of her two sons and now enjoys being Granny to her granddaughters. The recent, unexpected loss of her husband of forty-three years created a definitive valley experience. In the midst of recent life experiences, Mary Ann continues to have one major goal and she hopes it will be reflected in her chosen epitaph She scattered Joy!
Working for over twenty years in management positions with both municipal and provincial governments, Mary Ann has worked with children, native communities, new immigrants and seniors. In all these areas her work involved designing, implementing and evaluating programs that would enhance peoples quality of life. Several of these programs have received national recognition.
Mary Ann has taught at Vancouver School of Theology during their summer program on developing small groups. She has conducted workshops for the Church Depot - an Anglican-Lutheran joint venture on topics including: Creating Community Vision, Spiritual Gifts Discovery, and Church Leadership Development. Her true joy comes in facilitating women's retreats on a variety of topics which she has done both in the US and Canada. Her experience in youth and adult education means that she is able to integrate both form and process while maintaining a warm and supportive attitude. Her ability to embody the theories she presents indicates her integration of life and work.
Mary Ann currently works as Director of Community Life at a church in Victoria, BC, Canada.

"Friendships are a key to survival in an unfriendly world. They are a way for us to be recognized as unique, appreciated for who we are."
